Grievance Procedure

From October 2004 new statutory grievance procedures cam into force. This made it necessary for employers to follow a series of steps to ensure grievances are investigated and handled in an appropriate manner.

If an employee is still working for you when they make a grievance claim the standard procedure should be used. If they are no longer employed you can ask the ex-employee if they are comfortable with using a modified procedure. If you do use the modified procedure, you should ask the ex-employee to confirm their acceptance in writing.

Grievances in employees and ex-employees if not handled correctly could be very costly.

So if you don’t have a grievance procedure in place, please contact us.
